My capstone project for undergrad was a lot of fun. I’ve grown up around music my whole life; my dad’s band would vibrate the floor of my bedroom while they practiced in the garage every weekend. Although they would practice so much, they never recorded any of their music, and they rarely ever played shows. The semester before I was in capstone I was brainstorming what I wanted to do to wrap up the last 4 years, when my dad told me that his band was going to start playing more shows. Pretty much instantly, I decided that I wanted to make all original album covers and pseudo band posters for local bands, including my dad’s band. Above are covers and portraits for 5 bands local to Flagstaff, AZ (first to last in both sections: Caravel, Keegan Halvorsen and the Woke Mob, Side Project, Skyline, and Me and Mr. Dave). During the capstone exhibition, I had custom vinyl covers made for all of the albums as well as prints inside of cd cases next to them. Large prints of the portraits were side by side the albums as well. Huge thank you to all of the band members that were so ready to collaborate and incredibly supportive of the project.
